Advocate Saifuddin, Opposition Leader in the City Council, has demanded that all outstanding payments to contractors of Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority be released only after verification by Town and Union Council Chairmen. He further stated that new contracts should be signed directly with the Towns rather than centralized authorities.
Criticizing the performance of key municipal departments, Saifuddin said that the performance of all departments under the Mayor of Karachi — including the Water Corporation and Solid Waste Management — has been terrible. He called for immediate reforms and greater transparency in the functioning of these bodies.
The opposition leader reiterated the demand for empowering elected local representatives at the Town and UC levels to ensure accountability and efficient service delivery for the citizens of Karachi.
